Concentration Statement

My concentration is inspired by current events that I come across as a Model United Nations delegate. I wish to raise awareness of the problems in the world around us, near and far; from the Syrian Refugee Crisis to the drought in my home state of California. With metaphors and surrealistic techniques, I infuse my pieces with meaning in hopes that the viewer would leave with a greater understanding of the world around us. All my pieces are done with watercolors and pen; and my style is a fusion between the traditional Chinese Shenshui style and western techniques.

Fear Drives All	In the Coils of Technology Ever open a phone in the darkness? The newest generations have become blinded with technology and trapped in a virtual world,	Slaying the Tests Every high school student will run into standardized testing eventually. You cannot run. You cannot hid. So why don't you just face it head on?	Cracked The continent is cracking without water, without our life-sustaining resource. Will we remain cracked, or will we find another way?
Sea of Smog Skyscrapers jut like trees though a murky sea of poisonous gasses and dust.	Politics As of February 2016, American politics is a mess. It must've blown our then minds if we had known that Trump would win.	Conservation or Dust California (and most of America as well) is in a drought. We must save our most valuable resource or we all crumble into dust.	Bottle Nose Dolphins The ocean, our source of life, is being polluted with bottles, cans, bag, tires. The sea creatures are being harmed as we continue to dump our waste. Perhaps the trash will replace the sea life someday.
Syrian Refugees No home to return to, no home to find. Trapped between a war zone, and unfriendly eyes.	A Possible Future The next generation watches the old one. What are we if we cannot raise the next in a better world?	Shadow of Man Everywhere we go, our shadows follow us. What is man's shadow on Earth? What is our everlasting footstep, our monument of humanity?	Journey Humans have colonized the Earth, from its mountains to valleys. But will we go on? On, into space? Perhaps someday we terraform Mars, and colonize our nearest star system, Alpha Centuari.
